Given the university's location, surrounded by a vast park along the river Saale, the concept emerged to create a mobile sauna. This design allows for sauna sessions both on and around the campus, followed by a refreshing cooldown directly in the river. The transparency and lightness of the design stand in contrast to the typically massive and rustic wooden constructions of traditional saunas. The microarchitecture accommodates 4 to 5 people and can be set up and moved by just 3 people. An essential aspect of the implementation was ensuring accessibility for both students and faculty. This was achieved through integration into the university website and a dedicated page with instructions on how to use the sauna properly. To ensure sustainability, the energy source is derived from waste wood from the university's model construction workshops. This design enables the entire weight of the sauna to be moved on a single axle. The overhanging roof serves a dual purpose: providing a counterweight during assembly and disassembly, while also stabilizing the weight of the entire structure. The toilet paper FLUSHED contains a mycelial component that is specifically reactivated during the flushing process. The hyphal network within the mycelium has the unique ability to metabolize pollutants dissolved in the water as it traverses through the sewage system. Given the substantial influx of pharmaceuticals, their degradation products, and other micropollutants into wastewater each day, the concentration of heavy metals, hormones, and antibiotics in groundwater is on the rise, significantly impacting our environment. To address this issue, I conducted material experiments and explored four potential strategies to integrate mycelium into industrial toilet paper production. Bacteria and protozoa play a role in metabolizing our excreta, contributing to the transformation of wastewater into drinking water. This treated water is then reintroduced into the natural water cycle or discharged into the nearest river. Moreover, traditional approaches to treating contaminated water are often expensive, energy-intensive, and may generate toxic by-products. Flushed will initially be available in pharmacies. In the EU alone, 3.1 million tonnes of chicken feathers are produced annually, posing environmental problems due to overbreeding and the rapid spread of diseases (1). HYNER addresses this issue by developing textiles from chicken feather waste and actively promoting biodiversity through a godparent program for chickens. With 180 chicken species providing a diverse spectrum of feather colors and patterns, HYNER utilizes a resource-saving technology known as hydroentanglement to create a recyclable fleece with wool-like properties and a silk-like sheen. Feathers, consisting of 90% keratin, are chemically processed into bioplastic or impregnating spray, adding further value to the circular economy. In this digital realm, complete visibility of the other person is not always necessary, as digital tools can capture facial expressions and convey emotions effectively. Enter 'memic—a wearable digital tool designed for the transmission of facial expressions and voice. Throughout the 'memic project, we conducted experiments with various shapes to determine the most universally fitting design for different head shapes. Recognizing that the shape of the head is more individual than a fingerprint, we constructed memic using flexible spring steel. Comprising a diverse group of students, architects, designers, and artists, our mission is to repurpose unused urban spaces. Our initial focus is on transforming what is perhaps the smallest architectural monument in Halle – the former public toilet on Merseburger Straße. Within the compact 13 square meters, our aim is to generate experimental exhibition formats, bringing life to the space through a dynamic and ever-changing cultural and event program. Throughout the transformation process, we prioritize historic preservation and sustainable use, seeking to create a harmonious blend. Our vision extends beyond the physical transformation – we aspire to establish a public discourse and project space. This innovative greenhouse promotes health in a sustainable manner. The automated light and water system simplifies maintenance and can be conveniently controlled through a mobile app. Following harvesting, the herbs can be preserved and stored in the dry compartment, ready to be integrated into cooking or used for preparing tea. Eyeglasses play a crucial role in protecting the eyes from harmful UV rays and enhancing the quality of life for those with visual impairments.Unfortunately, sunglasses, in particular, have increasingly become short-lived disposable products due to the fast fashion trend in recent years. Resus eliminates the need for a metal hinge or adhesives, ensuring easy reusability after its useful life, thanks to the integrated joint.
