Das Bedürfnis e.V. is a non-profit art and culture association located in Halle (Saale). Comprising a diverse group of students, architects, designers, and artists, our mission is to repurpose unused urban spaces. Our initial focus is on transforming what is perhaps the smallest architectural monument in Halle – the former public toilet on Merseburger Straße.
Within the compact 13 square meters, our aim is to generate experimental exhibition formats, bringing life to the space through a dynamic and ever-changing cultural and event program. Throughout the transformation process, we prioritize historic preservation and sustainable use, seeking to create a harmonious blend.
Our vision extends beyond the physical transformation – we aspire to establish a public discourse and project space. This space will not only culturally enrich Halle's southern city center but also foster community participation, encouraging engagement and dialogue.
